I created a recruitment poster for UT-TOPOS, an LGBT club primarily made up of students from the University of Tokyo.
Concept
The initial concept was "You're not alone."
The challenge was that many sexual minorities hesitate to reveal their identity to others, making it difficult to publicly promote the club on a large scale. To address this, I divided the rainbow colors, a symbol of the LGBT community, and used each color individually in the posters. Six versions of the posters were displayed throughout the campus, and as people walked around, they would come across different-colored posters. Some people might eventually realize that the poster series collectively represent the rainbow theme.
The graphic design iconically visualized people being confined in a small space, reflecting the struggles of minorities unable to express their individuality.
